From R&D to Industrial Scale
Since 2014, BioSource has been dedicated to the R&D and industrialization of black soldier fly insect protein. It has built a full-chain insect protein industry system covering breeding, reproduction, farming, and processing. Headquartered in Pingshan, Shenzhen, the company has established multiple black soldier fly farming bases across China and set up an overseas subsidiary, iProtein, in Malaysia, forming an industrial layout of “R&D in Shenzhen, farming across multiple bases, localized processing support, and global product exports.” This layout enables us to fully control the entire process from breeding and farming to processing and export, while establishing circular agriculture partnerships based on local organic waste resources.
Zunyi Black Soldier Fly Farming Base — Flagship of Large-Scale Farming
The Zunyi base is located in Zunyi, Guizhou. It covers an area of 20,000 m², with a total gross floor area of 15,000 m², including 13,000 m² of workshop space. It features functional areas for administrative offices, black soldier fly farming, downstream processing, and living support.
The farming area consists of 39 greenhouses, each with an area of approximately 190 m². Each greenhouse can produce more than 3 tonnes of fresh larvae per batch. This is BioSource’s largest single-site and most automated farming base.

Circular Synergy: Turning Organic Waste Back into Protein
The site selection of BioSource’s bases is not coincidental. Every farming base is close to sources of food waste, agricultural waste, or food-processing by-products — we use these “low-value” organic wastes to feed black soldier fly larvae. The larvae are then converted into high-value insect protein and fat, while the frass returns to the soil as organic fertilizer.
Our products are supplied not only to domestic livestock, aquaculture, and feed-processing enterprises, but also exported to the United States, Thailand, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Africa, and other markets. The dried black soldier fly larvae product was selected as a 2023 Guangdong Province Renowned High-Tech Product.
