Bioyuan Biotechnology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. was founded in August 2000 and is located in Pingshan Park, Shenzhen National High-tech Zone. It is a biotechnology enterprise with microbial fermentation and resource insect breeding as its core technologies. The company is committed to the research and development, production and promotion of functional feed additives and sustainable insect protein raw materials. It is a national high-tech enterprise, a small and medium-sized enterprise specializing in special-tech enterprises, and a key agricultural leading enterprise in Shenzhen. It has established Guangdong Province engineering technology research Center for inactivated lactic acid bacteria microecological preparations; has passed ISO 9001, ISO 22000, EU FAMI-QS systemCertification, and complete the US FDA registration.

The company has a feed additives division and an insect division. The additives division focuses on post-production elements (inactivated lactic acid bacteria), acidifiers, plant extracts and fermentation solutions; the insect division focuses on the breeding, breeding and deep processing of resource insects such as black water flies, crickets, and mealworms. Its products include dried insects, skimmed insect powder, insect pulp, and insect oil.With insect manure, it serves the aquatic products, livestock and poultry, and pet markets.

The sales and service network covers the main animal husbandry regions of the country, and the products are exported to the United States, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Africa and other countries and regions, and an overseas subsidiary iProtein has been established in Malaysia.

Academic and achievements: More than 100 papers have been published, many of which have been included in SCI/EI; more than 60 invention patents have been authorized, including 4 U.S. patents and 1 European patent.

Social Impact: The entrepreneurship case “Scientist Entrepreneurship: Hu Wenfeng’s Choice to Start a New Business” was deposited in the China Business Administration Case Center of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University for the teaching of “Entrepreneurship” and “Management” courses.
